2008 Promesse 21

Varietal(s): 95% Cab Sauvignon, 5% Cab Franc

Tasting Notes: Harvested following the onset of the financial crisis and prior to a November freeze, the wine was sourced from Wahluke Slope. After 22 months on 25% new French oak, the free-run wine was blended with Cab Franc to create rich, balanced fruit, gentle tannins and trademark spice/black pepper. The Promesse opens to reveal refined complexity with a swirl of the glass.

Tasting Notes: A decidedly earthy base yields to red fruit, black currants, graphite and pepper. A full, yet balanced palate finishes with subtle tannic overtones that will soften further with ageing. Drink now or cellar to seven years. Aged 22 months in 25% new French oak. Allow ample time to decant.

Hints of oak and a touch of nutmeg add further resonance to this golden hued wine, once favored only in the fall and winter months, now enjoyable year round.

Tasting Notes: Showcasing the qualities of this well known varietal, hints of earth and vanilla accompany a progressive red fruit forward palate resonating with notes of currant and dark Bing cherry. Well balanced tannins accompany the flavors of oak, acquired through 20 months of barrel aging in French oak, creating a well rounded medium-body mouthfeel.
